Still here

Well the move from one place to another was completed a couple of weeks ago, but the net was only connected Tuesday. It was at this point that I realised I hadn't done anything crafty for over two weeks to post about so I got to it and got some things done. Now I thought today would be a great day to post something on my neglected blog, however, it also dawned on me today that I may not actually know where my camera is. I guess there is still a fair bit to be unpacked....

In other news, this is my 50th post.

I have a lot of stuff...

The lack of posting is due to the lack of sewing, caused by having to move house again. This is the 6th move in as many years and I really am starting to get sick of it. Though, despite some serious thowing out of old things, we still have so much stuff! I am sitting on the floor in the lounge room of our old place (as my desk is at our new place, in 5 different pieces) looking around at the loose crap that is still to be taken and its quite shocking how much there is!

Also unfortunately moving has caused me to actually realise how many unfinished quilts I have. For example:

I have one completely quilted quilt awaiting the threads being woven in and binding.

I have 7 quilts at least half way through being quilted. This includes 2 which only need borders done.

I have 2 completed quilt tops, another waiting for a border to be added, and the entire makings for 4 quilts cut out and just waiting to be pieced!

Now thats just from what I can think of off the top of my head, I have 14 quilts waiting paitiently to be finished. Gosh.. This is disturbing.

With that all said, I really don't think I will make it in this month to finish something! Mostly because moving means I will need to set up my sewing stuff again, and gosh that takes time! And I only have 7 days left!

I will leave you with another in progress shot of my yo-yo quilt (by the way, this one isn't even included in my quilt tally above, and I have ALL the pieces for this one...) Its very slowly getting every yo-yo pinned to a piece of black fabric. Which means I had to go out and by 600+ pins..

See you on the other side.

Two Good Excuses for Not Crafting

Number 1. Going on holiday.

Number 2. Living in Brisbane.

This is above the area where I was going to spend today cleaning up, assembling some more ikea shelves and then storing my ufo's. This doesn't actually look bad at all, only a little bit of water so far, because the problem started in the lounge room, on the other side of that wall. I'm very glad that I procrastinated about cleaning my room now.

In actual crafty related news, I did finish the quilting, but didnt get the binding made or attached. While on holidays I did not much at all, but managed a grand total of 32 yo yo's. (Though, in the two days after coming home, made 39). This leaves the 'to be made' count somewhere around 250. More than half way there!

I'm a bad blogger...

Yes I sure am.

My Mum bought me these flowers from the riverside markets two weeks ago, while they mightn't look quit as cheery as this anymore, they are still looking pretty good for two week old flowers. Thanks Mum.

I haven't been working on much, its freezing here and I know I should be sewing to keep warm but I just can't do it right now.

I have this up on my design wall though at the moment. Only two of the rows have been pinned so far. I'm thinking about giving it to my cousin, I had planned on giving it away next week but that really ain't happening. I'm thinking I might eventually back it in either flannel, or depending on the budget at the time, either chenille or minkee. I would love to back it in chenille, but I'm not sure how the quilting would go over the top of it.

Other than that I have just been dreaming about a dress I want to make and cutting out the fabric for the next quilt, bad Melanie! I told myself the design wall would be so that I could only have one thing on the go and my floor would stay clear, well I'm breaking that because the next one is starting to get layed out on the floor... oops
Bad, bad Melanie...

Not off to a good start

Ok, so I meant to start posting pictures of all my projects and miscellaneous ufo's but I am so slack I would rather sew!
I'm also using my sewing to procrastinate about cleaning up my room, which really needs to be done.

That is my bed at the moment. That is a queen sized bed covered in fabric, clean clothes, a towel, two unfinished quilt tops and a box of stuff still to be unpacked from moving in from almost 2 months ago. And even worse, I took this photo on Sunday, and it has since gotten worse because I have added a lot more fabric to the pile.
